Project highlight: Shaping the future of an oncology franchise
We recently completed a project analyzing strategic alternatives for the future of the oncology franchise in a global pharmaceutical company. We worked closely with the client team in the UK and the US to help them understand the value and future potential of each component of their business, and we provided recommendations for future pipeline investment decisions. It was particularly exciting to be working with a company facing immediate decisions in a changing market.

Why I enjoy IMS: My colleagues in the NY office
We have a lively NY team, and there is always something going that makes the day more amusing or exciting.

Outside of the office: Running and hockey
I love all things outdoors. You’ll often find me running along the East river or playing floor hockey with a local league.

Project highlight: Portfolio optimization in Europe
I recently worked on an exciting portfolio optimization project for a large multinational pharma company, which involved traveling to various European client offices to conduct assessments. It was really rewarding to know that the final valuations and recommendations helped to shape their strategy going forward.

For me, the best thing about IMS is the people; we have a global network of highly experienced and knowledgeable colleagues who are also great fun to work with.

Project highlight: A truly global project in Tokyo & New York
For this project, we developed a global market forecast (2011-2020). Our team included IMS consultants from seven countries, reaching out to local experts for their insight into each country we studied. Our recommendations helped a leading pharma company to reshape its growth strategy over the next decade. Our cross-country team worked together in Tokyo and New York at different points during the engagement.

Why I enjoy IMS: Focus on pharma
IMS offers me the chance to focus on the life sciences industry as well as the opportunity to experience a wide variety of engagements. In doing so, the company has really impressed me with its focus on helping me grow.

Outside of the office: Wine tasting
I love wine tasting. While studying in France, I took a wine tasting course and Côtes du Rhône became one of my favorite places!

DonalDonal, Senior Consultant, Cambridge

Queens University of Belfast, Class of 2004, PhD in Molecular Biology

Project Highlight: Shaping the biosimilars market
I recently completed work for a multinational pharmaceutical  company examining the potential  impact of policy makers’ perceptions on the biosimilars market. With our local colleagues and with client teams, we examined how key decision makers view and evaluate biosimilars across the European Union. We looked at how the changing competitive, financial and regulatory landscape is impacting policy decision makers’ viewpoints and most importantly, how our client could operate effectively within this changing environment. It was exciting to know that I was involved in decisions that have an impact on how our clients do business.

Why I enjoy IMS: Great people & projects
The people in IMSCG  are fun, driven and enthusiastic about what they do. From Analysts to Principals they are all excited to help address big challenges facing the industry. The passion we share makes IMS a great place to work.

Outside the office: Biographies and pop science
I particularly enjoy reading biographies and books about popular science – with my PhD, I consider myself to be a scientist on some level. Also, I find it fascinating to read about what some people are able to accomplish in their lives.

DebjaniDebjani, Engagement Manager, New York City

Cornell University, Class of 2002, Bachelor of Science in Policy Analysis and Management
Yale University, Class of 2007, Masters in Public Health, Health Management

Project highlight: Analyzing U.S. healthcare reform
We were asked to help a client understand the implications of healthcare reform in the US, even as reforms were still under development. We analyzed proposed legislation, identified aspects were relevant to pharma manufacturers and hypothesized implications for this client. It was thrilling to consider these issues while the reforms were being debated, and our clients appreciated our guidance in understanding the evolving healthcare system.

Why I enjoy IMS: Challenging and supportive work environment
I couldn’t have asked for a better work environment than IMS. I am always challenged to think on my feet, provide valuable insights and ensure that our work meets our clients’ needs. And to get all this done, I collaborate with incredibly supportive and talented  colleagues. I am grateful to be surrounded by people who I learn from and who want to learn from me.

Outside of the office: Dance
I have been dancing since I was five. Living in New York City gives me the opportunity to keep up that passion. I attend weekly classes and enjoy escaping to dance performances in the city whenever I can.

Project highlight: Client’s pricing strategy
I’ve been lucky enough to truly partner with several clients as they have prepared to launch new products. For one company in particular, I sat with the client making final edits the day before they presented their pricing strategy to the Board. A few weeks later, the price was announced – exactly in line with our recommendation.

Why I enjoy IMS: Energy & teamwork
We have no doors in our office, but if we did, they would always be open. And the energy of our staff day in and day out is absolutely amazing.
